About Us

Across Virginia Contractor Education

Our company does one thing: guide contractors through Virginia’s contractor licensing process.  We’ve been doing it for over ten years.

Together we share decades of experience in the contracting industry, education, business management, and business consulting. We bring that knowledge to every class.

We know that our success is due to our student’s success, and we are proud to have helped over one thousand contractors get their licenses and establish their contracting businesses.

Our History

2006-2007

In 2006 the Commonwealth of Virginia passed the law that requires all contractor license applicants to complete a mandatory 8 Hour Pre-license Class.

AVAC was created in 2007 to help contractors fulfill that requirement. AVAC’s founder, Toni Ewell, wrote the textbook Business Basics, Contractor Pre-license Education and created the AVAC 8 Hour Pre-license Contractor Class.

The Board for Contractors and the DPOR approved the textbook and the 8 Hour Class content. In Spring of 2007, AVAC held its first Contractor Pre-license Education class.

2008

In response to student requests, AVAC began teaching exam prep sessions to help Class A and Class B applicants pass the required A/B Business Exam as well as the BLD Technical Exam that was required for all BLD General Contractors (the BLD Classification, in 2012, ceased to exist and is replaced by the RBC and CBC Classifications).

2012 Present

In 2012, AVAC created and began teaching the exam prep session for the new RBC Specialty Exam.
